The Diocese of Lincoln has one of the largest numbers of historic church buildings in England, and we are keen to develop the role that they play in communities. This post is all about making that happen. The successful candidate will combine enthusiasm and energy with an interest in heritage interpretation, the arts, tourism or community development. Utilising excellent organisational and time management  skills, they will also have the opportunity to shape the Lincolnshire Open Churches scheme during an initial two-year period.

This is a new project, building on previous pioneering work, which  will offer a scope of opportunities for the successful candidate to help  place church buildings in the centre of their communities. St Philips Centre, Leicester is again running a 7 week Introduction to Faith Tourism course.  This course is aimed at people who already welcome visitors to places of worship or organise exhibitions/displays. Visit Churches in Derbyshire and the Peak District is a leaflet produced by the Derbyshire and the Peak District Church Tourism Network, a project supported by all the local authorities based throughout Derbyshire. Project funded partially by the European Union Economic Regional Development Fund and the Alliance Sub Regional Strategic Partnership. Website derbyshirechurches.org.uk.

The Derbyshire Churches Tourism Network has sponsored “a cascade” initiative whereby publicity in larger churches directs visitors to smaller churches in the locality.
